The Internet Won

Sometimes, I think the purpose of the internet is to waste my time. Sure it has its uses, but I tend to spend way too much time doing things that are irrelevant. Facebook, blogs, and other time-sucks on the world wide web have convinced me that I need to spend hours checking them frequently and then spend even more time contributing to the mass of communication that is already out there.

So here I am, writing on a blog for no reason other than "I felt like it."

Yesterday, I got carried away blog-stalking and decided that other people's lives are more exciting than mine. If that is the case, you wonder, why write about it? Well I'll tell you.

Instead of doing my homework (which at this point is writing lesson plans and deciding what to teach 27 fourth graders), I came up with this list:

Things I wish I could do right now
: (in no particular order)
  1. Watch Psych
  2. Watch MI-5 Season 5
  3. Catch up on House Season 6
  4. Finish The Lightning Thief
  5. Read other books for fun
  6. Watch movies with my friends
  7. Hang out with my friends in Logan
  8. Go through all my old school things
  9. Learn new songs on the guitar
  10. Play violin until my fingers hurt
  11. Swing on the swings in my backyard
  12. Write on my blog (I’m doing that right now!)
  13. Play the Wii for as long as I like
  14. Take a long bath and paint my toenails
  15. -While watching Pride and Prejudice
  16. Go on a date with someone who actually likes me
  17. Help Angie with her wedding plans
  18. Turn in my papers so I know where I’m going
  19. Have Pirate Night and watch Muppet Treasure Island
  20. Go ice skating
  21. Make an exotic dinner
  22. Go to the Pupusarie with everyone who knows what that is
  23. Make jewelry or something out of clay
  24. Write in my journal
  25. Talk with Lexi and listen to Kandra for hours
  26. Stay with Alan and Kristin for a while
  27. Use my passport to go somewhere awesome
  28. Do something helpful or charitable
  29. Take Jonas bowling
  30. Make heart-shaped cookies and decorate them

Of course, after I wrote this I actually accomplished several things:
  • Saw Sleeping Beauty the ballet
  • Babysat 5 boys under the age of six (Which was a little traumatic. And bloody.)
  • Wrote lesson plans for all of Monday
  • Created 2 center activities
  • Got 28 Valentines ready
  • Made a seating chart (During church. Shhh!)
  • organized my student teaching binder
  • Watched an episode of Psych (One thing off my list!)
  • Cleaned the kitchen
Accomplishing all of these things was great, but I had about twelve other things I could/should have done. Alas, I am only one person.

On the bright side, I have two 4-day weeks in a row! Huzzah!

In other news, Angie bought a dress! That's one thing off her list!
