(Both the TV show and the 90s catch phrase.)
This has been a great summer for no apparent reason. Minus the cruise, that was obviously awesome!
Actually, it is almost a never-ending summer for me. I won't see snow for 20 months because I'm going to a place where the average high temperature is between 75 - 90 degrees all year round. And humid.
That's right everybody, I got my mission call:
FLORIDA FORT LAUDERDALE - Spanish Speaking
I've never been to Florida, I don't speak Spanish, and I'm not the biggest fan of wearing skirts, but I am SUPER excited for this. 18 months without worrying about school or jobs. 18 months of sharing good news with others and helping them be happy forever. 18 months of structure and dedicated work. This is going to good. Really good.

Also, I finally got to be in an orchestra for a musical again! First time since high school. I didn't get to play violin in a well-known musical like I wanted to, but playing viola in a new musical was cool, too. Good job to my brother-in-law's sister-in-law! Shelter was pretty great, just ask all my cool new "friends" who were in it. Or my cool "new" friends who came to see it.
Speaking of friends, aren't they great? I love all my friends. Every time I see/talk/text them, I walk away smiling. Even if all we do is talk about our other friends (Don't deny it, you all know I'm right). I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for fulfilling my need-to-know-istis. But to clarify, I'm not nosy, I'm curious because I care. I only want to know so I can help others. Really.
Most Epic moment as of late? Definitely May 24th. I, Emmordan, Mom, and 50,000 of our closest friends joined together in Rice-Eccles Stadium to watch the most amazing concert I've ever been too and some that I haven't. Yes, it was that good. I don't care if you don't like Bono or The Edge (I'm not sure that is even possible), that U2 concert can't be beat. It was worth the year-long wait to see them.

Some things about summer are a bit mundane, but they are the essence of my summer. Things like planting vegetables in the garden, babysitting the little boys, playing Nertz on the living room floor, Sunday walks, watching the Price is Right, making jewelry with beads, repeatedly cleaning the same rooms, sitting on the swings in the warm sunlight, sitting on the swings in the dark of night, reading outside so long that you fall asleep and get sunburned, washing blankets and hanging them out to dry, going to see midnight movies, and watching TV, current and recorded.
Some things about this summer are a little more unique. Cheryl and I took care of our Grandpa's house and dog while they went to California. Laila is a ridiculously expensive and babied red-haired toy poodle. But at least she kind of like me now. Plus, staying there with her gave me a chance to read some old journals. Hilarious. I can't believe I wrote those things (and it was only five months ago)!
A few random thoughts:
*I don't know why I am so happy. It is largely unfounded, but why not be happy! Everyone would have a better day if they just smiled.
*I have to apologize to Angie for not following her guidance to watch Psych earlier. It is great. Or fantastic. I've heard it both ways.

*I don't know if have a job. I don't know if I want a job.
*The Paper Chain in my room says I have 73 days until I enter the MTC!
*Angie's getting married on Friday! And I get to be there when she is sealed! Yay Yay Yay!
You have the best posts and such an exciting life. U2 rocks. Ft Lauderdale will be great.
ReplyDeleteAnd, you're welcome. ;)
